Regenerative Agriculture
Pla de Martís
"Pla de Martís is not a land we exploit; it is a place we listen to. Here, the dense clay breathes again beneath the chipped wood we lay each winter at the foot of our olive trees. Nearly 150 tonnes of branch mulch have brought life back to the soil, encouraging the natural fungi that nourish the roots deep down."
Recovered Minerality
Our clay-limestone soil, connected to the karstic system of Lake Banyoles, offers our olive tree roots a mineral reserve that only exceptional terroirs possess.
The Forest Mantle
Nearly 150 tonnes of chipped branches spread across the estate. This living mulch feeds the biological life of the soil, improves the clay structure, and restores fertility to the ground.
The Legacy of Pla de Martís
Geology of Silence The subsoil of Pla de Martís is connected to the limestone water reserves of the Alta Garrotxa, which feed the nearby Lake Banyoles. This water runs deep beneath our olive trees, providing them with essential minerals. This geological feature gives our oil its signature complexity without the need for artificial irrigation.
Regenerative Vision This plateau, swept by the Tramontana wind, has a unique history. In 1938, during the civil war, it was used as a military airfield. The runways were abandoned in 1960, leaving behind heavily compacted, tired ground. We chose to guide its recovery using chipped wood mulch, cover crops, and plenty of patience. Today, the trees grow where planes once took off, in the quiet of the estate.
